Description
Red Panel, Patrick Hegarty - idle passing
Red Panel perform idle passing live as part of the state51 Conservatoire series.
"idle passing is a very simple piece built out of intervals and pitches I [Patrick] have revisited over and over in various pieces throughout the past year. They are contained in short fragments which the players can jump between pretty much as they please within a loose reading of the score from left to right.
Alongside a few technical directions, the score details that any cello fragment triggers the start of any harp fragment following the metaphor like wind (cello) and like wind chimes (harp)." - Patrick Hegarty
Red Panel is a fluid collective of composers, multi-instrumentalists and sound artists based in the UK and Germany. Founded in 2018 by composer-performer duo Cara Dawson and Eden Lonsdale, the group’s rotating line-up is characterised by a highly collaborative approach to music making. Their performances bring together specially written compositions, immersive environments and unconventional locations, creating a musical language that is situated somewhere between experimental, contemporary classical, and ambient/drone.
Recent projects have spanned a variety of formats, including a multi-media performance at the Barbican Cinema, a series of house concerts across Berlin, a number of church concerts in London, and a long durational installation work for the London Culture Mile.
